'The amount of PTET tax credit reported ont eh Schedule PTET ADJ, $70,921, differs fromt eh sum of the corresponding credit amounts reported ont he shareholders' Schedules VK-1, $74,540, due to rounding Utilize the "pass-through entity elective tax credit" input code in Virginia K-1 Overrides screen for the applicable shareholder(s) to resolve.'
Spoiler alert it's not due to rounding:
Lacerte is calculating the Virginia PTET reported on 502PTET page 2, line 7/PTET Adj p2 line 10 differently than how it is calculating the PTET credits reported on the individual shareholder K1s.
Total PTET is calculating using (Federal Income +/- Virginia Adjustments) x Apportionment % x PTET Rate = PTET.
Shareholder K-1 PTET credits - (Shareholder's Fed K-1 Income x Virginia Apportionment % +/- NON-APPORTIONED Virginia adjustments) x PTET Rate = PTET Credit.
As a result, the sum total of the PTET credits on the shareholder K1s is greater than the PTET reported on page 2 of the tax return, and I have a diagnostic.
This feels like a programming error on Lacerte's end – has anyone else run into this? I would prefer they fix on their end rather than having to utilize overrides.
