E-file Direct Debit Payment Records

MattatDH

The e-file history should include the direct debit information (dollar amounts and partially masked account numbers) that were transmitted to the IRS/states at the time of filing and acceptance.

Currently, if you request a direct debit draft on an extension, and something in the return changes, there is no way to confirm what amount was actually transmitted to the jusrisdiction.  If a extension was filed and accepted previously, and then for some reason has a diagnosic when you go to file the return the e-file payment confirmation does not populate.

Thanks for the idea to include direct debit amount and masked account number in e-file history. We are changing the status to "Open for voting" since it is no longer considered "New".

I agree with this and just suggested that some type of record of payment with extensions to be available with the extension filing. I almost paid the amount due if I did not call customer service to confirm that a payment was sent timely with the extension. This is very important to have a record of the payment, the amount, account number and date it was sent in the e-file information. If it was not sent in direct debit than it should state amount due at the time of the filing.
