In person Signature

Why does this software does not allow In Person Signature??? Very basic software systems allow in person Signatures by generating a QR Code and using the Phone as Signature PAD. Why is this not availible in the "MOST EXPENSIVE SOFTWARE IN THE WORLD

I learned something new today.  I didn't realize ProConnect was the most expensive software in the world.  Based on that information, I think I will stick with ProSeries ------------------- at least as long as it doesn't take over ProConnect's spot as the most expensive software in the world.

Sad but true. Question to you IRonMaN. Does ProSeries allow an electronic In Person Signature?

It does for me - I generate paper 8879s 😀

I am old and confused. I use pen and paper and make a copy for my records before I transmit an e-file return. If you are using "in person Signatures by generating a QR Code and using the Phone as Signature PAD." as an alternative to my pen and paper, how is this different. I don't see ProConnect as the obstacle to this technology. You control the e-file. You decide when the 8879 is signed in a manner that IRS will accept. Like I said, I am old and confused, please help me understand.

Hello George. I guess not too old and not too confused when you help us with your feedback. But reasons like these is exactly why we use technology. Simple actions like having a client electronically sign the forms are one of the things that generate confidence, remote support and service and traceability.

@Diegog07 My confusion is that how does ProConnect hamper this. I get a wet signature and transmit the return. You get an electronic signature and then I would think you could transmit the return? Are  you looking for ProConnect to have an electronic link to your electronic signature? Do you want some form of storage method to store these electronic signature or for ProConnect to offer the software to do this? What is your expectation of what ProConnect should be doing differently?

I believe:

1) Lacerte costs just a wee bit more than ProConnect.  So does UltraTax...

2) ProConnect doesn't have esignature as an option?

E-Signature provided by a third party (DocuSign) and when authentication fails, ProConnect does not offer support, then you have to Contact DocuSign and of course their customer support is not great. This feature comes standard at many other softwares and it gets registered in the platform (NO PAPER NEEDED YET AVAILIBLE ANY TIME).

When you do DocuSign, doesn’t it give you the option to select in person?

@Quack_Shot It doesn't, Cheap way to squeeze you out of every cent, now you are forced to send the DocuSign to their e-mail even if they are in front of you and that way they charge an additional $3.75 per signature.
