Hello Community,
I have a question regarding the filing of an amended 1065 return. None of the income items changed the only reason that I am filing an amended return is that one of the partners as of 1-1-24 assigned their interest to a partnership LLC that they are a member of and did not indicated that when original return was prepared. My question is should I just e-file an amended return with amended box checked and explain the reason for the amended return and issue the new K-1 to the new partner. That would be the easiest way. But from what I have read you must file an administrative adjustment request with the IRS if your client is under the BBA audit procedures and my client is under those procedures. This is a small partnership with 6 partners and I don't want to go through all that. I just want to file an amended return and explain the situation and be done with it. What does community think that I should do.

You can do a superseded return if you file it today 9/15/25.
Otherwise I have to advise you to follow the AAR procedures.
When was original return filed?
Was there an extension?
Did they elect out of centralized partnership audit regime on original return? EDIT: I see now you say they are subject to it.
SJRCPA,
The original return was filed in May and an extension was taken out. I guess my question really should be is do you think I can avoid all of this red tape and just do an amended return without having the IRS breathing down my back. My unqualified opinion is they may not be too much into details because their staffing has been reduced and this is just a technical change not a dollar amount change. What is your opinion.

SJRCPA,
Thanks for the advice. That is what I am going to do and avoid all of the red tape. Especially for such a small change.
Thanks,
John
