The program has not been user friendly for the past few years.
If a W-2 has multiple work location on line 1a (I have had to enter as many as 40 locations)
On line 1a More than half of the possible cities are not listed and there is no way to enter them on line 1a. that forces the preparer to place wrong information on line 1a and then correct it on line 9 column 1. line 9 column 1 DOES have all the possible cities listed.
If a W-2 only lists one city for local wages then line 1a could have entered other city and place the correct city on line 9 col 1.
If a W-2 has multiple cities there is no easy way to prepare the CCA return. If the cities are all available on line 9 why can they not be available on line 1a?
@lazzara Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting your first question. Have you tried reaching out to ProSeries support to see if they are able to assist with this or have any suggestions?
More and more cities have left CCA to RITA. I used to do hundres of CCA returns a year until the city I live in switched from CCA to RITA. I am so glad they switched as CCA I found to be difficult to work with, the form and often calling CCA with questions.
With that said, the limitation with the form I don't think is ProSeries doing. Line 1 of the CCA return will only populate CCA localities, which there are not that many. Many employers are located in cities other than CCA cities, forcing you to select "Other City" for line 1a. It gets more problematic when you have more than one city that are not CCA cities.
If those other cities have different rates then the program will still group the"other cities" on one line but they most likely have different rates. If there just a few other cities I will type over/ break down the other cities on line 9 in separate lines and their respective rates.
I agree the whole CCA form is poorly designed but I believe this is on CCA, not ProSeries. I think the form in ProSeries is designed like CCA has it.. just that CCA is very lacking on the flow and logic.
