This article will help you:
- Apply these provisions to ProConnect Tax 2024 to calculate next year's estimated tax payments.
- Apply these provisions to the Tax Plans.
- Understand the new Diagnostic ref number 61364 "The provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act enacted on July 4, 2025 may have an impact on the 2025 estimated tax for this return. To apply the provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to the estimates calculation, check the box for "Apply One Big Beautiful Bill Act provisions for 2025 estimates" in the 2025 Estimated Tax screen. Please note that any estimated tax payments which have already been made should be entered as negative amounts in the Overrides section under "2025 Estimated Tax (before overpayment is applied) (negative if already paid, -1 if none)."
On July 4, One Big Beautiful Bill was signed into law, bringing significant changes to the tax code and beyond. For more information about the changes included in this bill, see here.
To apply the changes to the 2024 return for estimated taxes:
An update is available on 8/7/2025 for the 2024 return to recalculate the estimated taxes based on these provisions. Following these steps will also clear Diagnostic Ref 61364.
- Go Input Return ⮕ 2025 Estimated Tax (1040-ES, W-4, W-4P, W-4R) ⮕ 2025 Estimated Tax (1040-ES)
- Under General Information check the box Apply One Big Beautiful Bill Act provisions for 2025 estimates ("Estimate options" must be set to one of the options which uses 2025 tax).
- Review the entry in Estimates options (Click on arrow to select from list) to make sure 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 is selected. Options 1, 8, 9 and 10 will not use the new provisions.
- If estimated tax payments have already been made:
- Scroll down to the Overrides section.
- On the line "2025 Estimated Tax (before overpayment is applied) (negative if already paid, -1 if none)." enter a negative amount for the amount already paid.
If you have already e-filed the tax year 2024 return with Estimated Tax Payments set up for electronic funds withdrawal, there isn't a way through ProConnect Tax to change the payment amounts to the new calculation. See Pay taxes by electronic funds withdrawal for information on canceling the payment schedule and setting up a new payment option with the IRS.
