Gentlemen:
I am looking from another Puerto Rico Tax preparer who e-files using ProSeries Basic. Because of the particular rules for Puerto Rico bona fide residents, we as preparers has to override certain lines in the return to comply with with Pub 570, such as prorating standard deduction for excluded income, overriding self employment income to 0 and the 50% deduction of self employment tax among other. Obviously the software review detects an error in these cases. This is my first year e-filing and I am finding half of my returns are rejected by the IRS because of this. Does anyone knows a way to go around it or do I have to continue filing by paper on those cases?? Thank you.
