I would like to see a "to do" diagnostic for missing items that were input in the prior year. For example, say a client had student loan interest or a 1099-R for early retirement distributions and I had NOT input those items in the current year, the software would prompt me in the diagnostic screen to show those items as "to do's." This would alert me that I might be missing items in the return that I had last year. This will help errors be caught before being filed and avoid mistakes and filing amended returns.
