706 portability

how to fill out the 706 for portability purposes when there is no probate because all assets are owned by the revocable family trust.  Do you still list the items on the various schedules and then give an estimated value of the estate?

The trust is no longer revocable. You list the Trust, then list all the assets in the trust and their dod values. Schedule G.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

I recently found an answer to that question was to describe the trust on Schedule G and attach a copy of the trust, but list the assets held in the trust on the other appropriate schedules.  Not sure now where I found that, and since it's the answer that AI gives me, I suspect it might be wrong.  Also, it might make a difference if you are filing only to claim portability.

I do not think the trust became irrevocable because their is a surviving spouse. I am only filing for portability
